One of Canada's leading health solutions companies, with locations across Ontario and Manitoba. Dynacare handles both routine and specialized testing. Routine panel turnaround is typically 1-3 business days, with specialized tests (hormone panels, autoimmune markers) taking longer.
Alpha Laboratories
An independent lab network in Ontario offering walk-in and appointment-based blood work. Alpha Labs locations are often less busy than the major chains, which can mean shorter wait times at the lab itself, though result turnaround is comparable at 2-3 business days for routine panels.
What affects turnaround time
- Test complexity: a basic CBC or glucose runs in hours. Hormone panels, cultures, and specialized assays may take 3 to 7 business days.
- Lab volume: high-traffic branches (downtown Toronto, Ottawa) process more samples and can run slower. Smaller suburban locations are sometimes quicker.
- Time of day: morning samples are more likely to be batched and processed the same day. Afternoon draws often slip to the next business day.
- Courier schedules: many patient service centres ship to a central processing site. The courier pickup schedule sets how fast your sample even gets started.
How to get results faster
