You can get bloodwork in Ontario without a family doctor. With TeleTest, you complete an online assessment, receive a requisition when testing is appropriate, and use a participating laboratory.
Most consultations cost $49. OHIP covers eligible, medically necessary community laboratory tests when the coverage requirements are met.

How It Works
- Select the testing service. TeleTest offers routine bloodwork, STI testing, hormone testing, medication monitoring, and other defined services.
- Complete the online assessment. Provide your symptoms, medical history, medications, and reason for testing.
- A clinician reviews the request. The clinician confirms which tests are appropriate and issues the requisition.
- Visit a laboratory. Use a participating LifeLabs, Dynacare, Alpha Labs, or other listed collection site.
- View your results online. Results are posted in the patient portal and reviewed by a clinician.
OHIP Coverage
OHIP covers medically necessary tests listed in the Schedule of Benefits when the applicable criteria are met. A TeleTest consultation fee is separate from the laboratory charge.
Some specialized, elective, and preventive tests are not insured. The laboratory charges the patient directly for those tests. TeleTest lists current private lab prices for LifeLabs, Dynacare, and Alpha Labs.
Result Timing
Timing depends on the test and laboratory. Routine bloodwork is often available within 1 to 2 days. Some specialized tests take longer. TeleTest publishes measured turnaround times by test and location.
Result Review and Follow-Up
A clinician reviews the results after they are received. If a result requires treatment or additional assessment, the clinician provides the appropriate next step. Prescriptions can be sent to the patient's pharmacy when clinically appropriate.
When You Need In-Person Care
TeleTest does not provide a physical examination. Use in-person care if your symptoms require an examination, imaging, urgent assessment, or a procedure. Walk-in clinics and community health centres can provide in-person assessment, subject to their capacity and intake rules.
