Finasteride vs. Dutasteride

Dutasteride is a medication used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate, but it's also prescribed off-label for male pattern hair loss. Dutasteride works by inhibiting both types of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme. By lowering DHT levels more effectively than finasteride, which only inhibits one type of the enzyme, dutasteride can potentially offer greater improvements in hair regrowth and slowing hair loss for men.
Dutasteride (0.5mg)
Finasteride and Dutasteride both target hair loss by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT. While Finasteride selectively inhibits one type of the enzyme, Dutasteride blocks both types, leading to a more significant decrease in DHT levels, which might offer greater efficacy in hair regrowth and prostate size reduction but potentially increases the risk of side effects, including sexual dysfunction.
Finasteride vs. Dutasteride
Finasteride works by blocking the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme converts testosterone, a male hormone, into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is known to cause hair follicles to shrink and eventually stop producing hair. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride can help slow down hair loss and, in some cases, even regrow some hair. Branded Finasteride available upon request.
